DENIM GUIDE
Interested in MATERNITY DENIM?
Keep scrolling for a walkthrough of what we offer and how it fits.
1. Pick your cut
Choose the shape that suits you from our denim line-up: Straight, Flare, Wide and Boyfriend.
The length is adjustable too, whether you want a cropped, full or extra long finish.
2. Pick your wash
Our denim comes in a spread of shades and washes, each chosen for a premium feel and a flattering finish. Open the style you like to see which washes are available.
Keep in mind that most fabrics have stretch for comfort all day, though a handful are 100% organic cotton and do not stretch.
3. Find your size
Check the size chart and measurements on every product page to find your fit. Further down, you will see how to measure your hips and length, plus some sizing advice.
In most cases, stay with the size you normally wear unless you prefer a different fit.
4. Find your length
The easiest way to find your inseam is to use a tape to measure from just under your crotch down to the bottom of your ankle. To measure an existing pair of jeans, spread them flat on a table and follow the inner seam from the crotch to the hem.
Select a shorter or longer inseam to get either a cropped or a full-length effect. Browse the photos of each style for inspiration!
PICK YOUR CUT & WASH
01 Straight Denim
Our idea of the ideal straight-leg jean. It leans slim, mainly through the thigh and calf, yet finishes with a straight hem rather than the tapered shape of a typical skinny.
Offered in several washes, all in a thick, stretchy denim. Wear it full length or slightly cropped for the most flattering result with flats, trainers, heels or boots.
02 Flare Denim
A classic bootcut, slimmer through the upper leg and opening softly from the knee down.
Several washes are offered, each made in a heavy yet stretchy denim.
We love the flare worn slightly cropped or extra long, so it pairs with whatever shoes you pick.
02 Flare Fit - Washed Blue
02 Flare Fit - Faded Black
02 Flare Fit - Ecru White
02 Flare Raw Hem - White
03 Wide Denim
The ultimate wide-leg trouser: snug through the waist, with a beautifully flattering seat, then easing outward from the thigh to the hem.
Comes in several washes, each cut from a substantial denim that still has plenty of stretch.
Choose a longer inseam for the full wide-leg effect. If you prefer, order a very short inseam and wear it as a cropped wide leg.
03 Wide Fit - Washed Blue
03 Wide Fit - Pitch Black
03 Wide Fit - Raw Indigo
03 Wide Fit - White
03 Wide Fit - Faded Black
03 Wide Raw Hem - Army Green
04 BOYFRIEND FIT
Our take on relaxed denim, cut roomier through the waist and thighs with a straight leg.
Made from 100% Organic Cotton, with no elastane. Over time and with regular wear these can give by as much as a full size, so a slightly tight first fitting will ease up gradually. Offered in dreamy vintage washes.
We strongly suggest full or extra length.

Choosing the correct leg length
Hold a measuring tape at the floor beneath your heel and run it up to the crotch, the inside point where your legs meet. Even if you are the same height as someone, or as a model in our photos, inseams vary between people and change how trousers fit. With this you can work out where 30, 32 or 34 inch leg lengths land on you. Have a look at the next images to see how different lengths suit different styles:

FAQ
Not sure about something? Write to us at contact@ilouityshop.com and our team will gladly help.
Will my size need to change as my pregnancy progresses?
Not at all, which is the best part. Most customers stay in one pair from the early months straight through to the end, and plenty keep wearing them afterwards because they feel so good.
Is it better to pick my usual size for nursing tops?
With nursing pieces, go by the size you currently wear and choose accordingly. Note that the square neck tank fits on the small side, whereas the ribbed tank is a little roomier.
What if I fall between two sizes?
If the denim has stretch, size up. If a pair has no stretch, take the smaller size.
What measurements are needed to choose my size?
Every piece is cut to give you space exactly where it counts. Our jeans feature contoured waistbands that dip low in front and rise a bit at the back, which feels better when you sit. The soft jersey belly band offers gentle support front and back. On most styles it rests over the bump, while a few others hide the stretch inside the pocket panel.
